Some Spider is a new digital media entertainment company financed by serial entrepreneurs, Vinit Bharara and Marc Lore, who previously co-founded and later sold Diapers.com to Amazon. Vinit is the CEO of Some Spider. Other Some Spider executives include COO, Paul Smurl, former Head of Digital at the New York Times and CRO, Sharon Mussalli, former Entertainment Industry Manager at Facebook.

Some Spider’s mission is to create iconic entertainment “channels” for the new digital, mobile and social cable dials. We’re home to two channels: Scary Mommy (the biggest parenting property in the country, reaching over 100 million people each month), and CAFE (2016's breakout news and humor brand, reaching over 60 million people each month). And we plan to launch more.

About the Role:

Built for the social, mobile millennial mom, Scary Mommy is redefining marketing to moms with the most social, shared parenting content online. Hilarious, honest and heartfelt, Scary Mommy is a celebration of imperfect parenting that connects with the modern mom.

Scary Mommy is looking for an experienced seller to bring our distinct brand of sponsored content to national marketers. We are the best at telling brands’ stories across distributed platforms – in all media formats – to connect with and mobilize moms on mobile and social.

The ideal candidate is a digital sales powerhouse with killer instinct, someone with a marketing mindset and strong grasp of the analytics, and a creative type who can help create marketing solutions that bring clients’ brands to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect, qualify and close new sales accounts.
  • Build sales pipeline and maintain high level of activity.
  • Persuasively communicate Scary Mommy’s story and sell in advertising offerings.
  • Meet monthly and quarterly sales performance targets.
  • Shape evolution of branded content and overall sales approach – solutions, positioning, pricing – to address client needs in this fast-moving space.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience selling digital consumer media, including native/branded/sponsored content.
  • Excellent agency and client relationships, with emphasis on Retail, Consumer Packaged Goods and Fashion and Beauty categories.
  • Track record of building client relationships, growing accounts and meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and customer management skills.
  • High energy, entrepreneurial self-starter.
